evokeAG. 2020 - Future Young leaders - Caitlin Vayro
“I’m committed to demonstrating leadership to positively impact farmer mental health, so that they may continue to farm into the future.”
Caitlin has completed a PhD on farmer mental health, specifically exploring the factors that impact farmer mental health help-seeking. Using the knowledge she has gained through her research, Caitlin is passionate about promoting mental health and the well-being of our primary producers.
Caitlin wears many hats; she works as a learning adviser at the University of Queensland, is a committee member of HALT (Hope Assistance Local Tradies)—a mental health awareness and suicide prevention not-for-profit, and also volunteers with Agforce, where she is assisting to create their workplace health and safety policy.
These roles demonstrate Caitlin’s passions: agriculture, mental health and education. She intends to educate farmers and farming communities how to promote wellbeing and seek help when necessary.
