Industry heavyweights line up for evokeAG. 2024

AgriFutures’ evokeAG. has launched its program for the 2024 event, revealing a schedule packed with exceptional thought leaders and change makers on the cutting edge of agriculture, food manufacturing, research, innovation, investment, and policy.

Local and international speakers and delegates will descend on Perth, Western Australia for the two-day event on 20-21 February 2024, to share ideas and build connections in pursuit of a more resilient, sustainable, and profitable agrifood sector and value chain.

Among the distinguished international speakers set to share their insights are Robyn O’Brien, Founder of Sirona Ventures in the United States, Nina Schick, Founder of Tamang Ventures in the United Kingdom, Abi Ramanan, food systems entrepreneur and Dr Lewis Akenji, Managing Director of the Hot or Cool Institute in Germany.

Locally, event goers can expect to hear from the likes of Professor Richard Eckard, Director of the Primary Industries Climate Challenges Centre, University of Melbourne, Olympia Yarger, CEO, GOTERRA, and from WA, the CEO of Brownes Dairy, Natalie Sarich-Dayton.

AgriFutures Australia, General Manager for Global Innovation Networks, Harriet Mellish said the evokeAG.  program has been carefully constructed, and it is exciting to be taking the event west in 2024.

“The team has certainly set the stage for an exceptional gathering of visionaries, leaders, and innovators in the agrifood sector,” Ms Mellish said.

“evokeAG. 2024 will explore an array of examples of cutting-edge technologies, disruptive business models, groundbreaking research and development, and sustainable practices.

“In their own way, each of these speakers is working to reshape their sectors and value chains, to build a more sustainable, resilient, productive, and profitable future.

“Perth, and Western Australia is home to some of our most innovative and groundbreaking industries and businesses, making it a perfect host city for this year’s event.”

The 2024 event theme, “Exceptional Edge”, represents a relentless pursuit of innovation within the ag sector and across the Asia-Pacific region at a critical juncture for the sector.

“As we stand at the edge of complex challenges and exceptional opportunities, evokeAG. 2024 will facilitate robust conversations on pivotal issues that demand innovative solutions, from feeding the world to addressing climate change and finite resource management,” Ms Mellish said.

“We look forward to tackling some of these topics through our sessions, facilitating globally relevant conversations that seek to inspire new ways of thinking and drive change.”

Across the two-day event, keynote and panel sessions will explore topics including:

  • Agrifood systems: Balancing the social tensions and emissions budget
  • Price maker, or price taker? Unlocking the potential of more equitable agrifood supply chains
  • Beyond waste: From obsolescence to value creation
  • Pooling our resources towards a collaborative investment landscape
  • Mining and agriculture: Shared challenges, shared knowledge, shared bounty

“evokeAG. isn’t a conversation that starts and stops at farmgate, but one that continues across the agricultural supply chain and into other sectors,” Ms Yarger said.

“The AgriFutures team have pulled together an exciting lineup for 2024 that tackles and facilitates valuable discussions about some of the biggest trends and challenges currently facing the agrifood sector globally.

“I’m really looking forward to taking part in these conversations at evokeAG. 2024, exploring how Australia can use its exceptional edge to meet both ESG and production targets. And what an amazing opportunity to do it at an international level.”

Adding to the lineup is event MC and Australian comedian, documentary maker and host of the ABC’s War on Waste, Craig Reucassel.

Craig Reucassel, Australian comedian, documentary maker and host of the ABC’s War on Waste, will MC the two day event on 20-21 February 2024.

First held in 2019, the event will take place in Perth for the first time in 2024, at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre on 20–21 February 2024.
